Ageing Shiv Sena Chief Bal Thackeray alienated himself from millions of Indians when he attacked the country's icon Sachin and Maharashtra's most loved son, Sachin Tendulkar, for saying that "Mumbai belonged to all Indians". In an editorial in the Sena mouthpiece, Saamna, Thackeray, warned Sachin to "keep off the political pitch" for his own well being. Or else, he would have "run out" from Marathi minds.

Congress & Nationalist Congress Party alliance set to retain power in Maharashtra

Congress and Nationalist Congress Party alliance in Maharashtra appeared set to retain power with its candidates leading in 136 of the 288 assembly constituencies in the state.

Latest updates from voting result:
Cong + NCP = 132
BJP + Shiv Sena = 103
MNS = 13
Others = 12
Total = 260

Trends available from 267 constituencies showed that Opposition Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party combine is leading in 92 seats. Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena is leading in 14 seats, the Third Front in 10 seats and others comprising mostly Congress-NCP rebels are leading in 31 seats.

In the prestigious Amravati seat, Congress nominee and President Pratibha Patil's son Raosaheb Shekhawat was trailing behind party rebel Sunil Deshmukh by 2,532 votes at the end of the first round of counting.

As elections are at final stage in Maharashtra, Bihar court had planned to restrict moves of Raj, as Maharashtra Navnirman chief Raj Thackeray get Warrant from Bihar court.

Bihar court issued an arrest warrant against Raj Thackeray for making "hate speeches" against Biharis and asked the Mumbai police commissioner to produce him before it on November 2.

The party activists stopped screening of his moves in the theatres on the order of him. The movie was Karan Johar's latest movie Wake Up Sid. Raj Thackeray said this is absolutely wrong and people of film industry must be careful while using the word Mumbai. He addressed to media after meeting Karan Johar in Mumbai in the former residence. He said this is not tolerable and he and his party always protest in future if this will happen. According to the news and Raj Thackeray statement, the protest against the movie has been withdrawn as Karan admitted he was mistaken and feel sorry for that.
